Variation Templates

Construction work contract variations are an unfortunate but somewhat inevitable part of working on construction projects. While contracts are based on the best laid plans and drawings, alterations to designs, working conditions, and sequences of work are mostly expected on these projects.

These contract variations can obviously cause problems for many contractors, subcontractors, and other parties, and it's important that these companies have a reliable process in place to ensure they are paid fairly for variations that effect their ability to adhere to the initial contract or execute work properly.

In order to formalise any changes to the scope of work or project cost under a contract, MPAQ has created a suite of variation templates to fit the MPAQ Plumbing Specific Work Contracts. These templates are provided free of charge when purchasing a relevant MPAQ contract. Instructions for which template to use for each scenario are included on the templates when they are provided, as well as below.

  • Variation Notice – Contract for Domestic Works (QLD)

    To be issued by the contractor (MPAQ Member) to the client when the client has asked to vary a Contract for Domestic Works – QLD.

  • Variation Notice – Home Building Contract (NSW)

    To be issued by the contractor (MPAQ Member) to the client when the client has asked to vary a Home Building Contract - NSW.

  • Variation Templates – Subcontract for Plumbing or Associated Works
    Form 1

    To be issued by the client (MPAQ Member) to the subcontractor directing a variation to a Subcontract for Plumbing or Associated Works.

    Form 2

    To be issued by the subcontractor to the client (MPAQ Member) in response to form 1 detailing the changes to cost or timeframe for the variation.

    Form 3

    To be issued by the subcontractor to the client (MPAQ Member) advising of a required variation to a Subcontract for Plumbing or Associated Works. This must be accepted or rejected by the client.

  • Variation Templates – Contract for Plumbing Services
    Form 1

    To be issued by the client to the subcontractor (MPAQ Member) directing a variation to a Contract for Plumbing Services.

    Form 2

    To be issued by the subcontractor (MPAQ Member) to the client in response to form 1 detailing the changes to cost or timeframe for the variation.

    Form 3

    To be issued by the subcontractor (MPAQ Member) to the client advising of a required variation to a Contract for Plumbing Services, based on a direction that has been provided by the client.

    Form 4

    To be issued by the subcontractor (MPAQ Member) to the client requesting a variation to a Contract for Plumbing Services. This must be accepted or rejected by the client.

  • Variation Templates – Master Contract
    Form 1

    To be issued by the client to the subcontractor (MPAQ Member) directing a variation to a Master Contract or Purchase Order

    Form 2

    To be issued by the subcontractor (MPAQ Member) to the client in response to form 1 detailing the changes to cost or timeframe for the variation

    Form 3

    To be issued by the subcontractor (MPAQ Member) to the client advising of a required variation to a Master Contract or Purchase Order, based on a direction that has been provided by the client

    Form 4

    To be issued by the subcontractor (MPAQ Member) to the client requesting a variation to a Master Contract or Purchase Order. This must be accepted or rejected by the client
