Payday Super is now law and starts on 1 July 2026. What's changing for you?

From 1 January 2025, intentional underpayments of wages or entitlements (deemed ‘wage theft’) can now be a criminal offence. In addition, civil penalties have increased for underpayments of wages for non-small business employers (15 or more employees).

In just over 4 months (on 1 January 2025) the Fair Work Act 2009 amendments creating an underpayment of wages criminal offence comes into effect.

The Department of Housing, Local Government, Planning and Public Works progressed an amendment on 16 February 2024 to the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (Minimum Financial Requirements) Regulation 2018 (MFR Regulation) to reduce costs and administrative burden for certain licensees.
