Fraser Island 4WD Trip 2019
In 2019 MPAQ will be holding an inaugural Plumbing and Gas Fraser Island 4WD trip from Friday 23 - Sunday 25 August. Over a weekend there will be camping, bonfires, food and drinks, lots of activities (including planned 4WD convoys to various places on the island) and of course, time to relax and enjoy the white sandy beaches of Fraser Island.
Families and friends in the plumbing and gas industry are invited to come along as well!
The Cathedrals property is dingo fenced with the grid at the entrance electrified.
*Please note: Although registrations are still open, the group reservation at Cathedrals has now closed. We cannot guarantee that your camping site will be within or near the original MPAQ booked area.

Planned 4WD Trips (Saturday)
|Locations||Drive - difficulty level||Description|
|Eli Creek||Easy||Eli Creek is a short drive from Cathedrals (approx 30. mins) and will take you directly past the Maheno Shipwreck. The creek is a popular picnic and swimming spot with a boardwalk that follows the creek inland. MPAQ will organise group volleyball and cricket but we also encourage bringing any tubes/floating devices as the creek is simply magical to sit in and watch the day go by!|
|Lake McKenzie||Intermediate||Not including any stops, this drive will take approx 1.5 hrs each way. Drivers can stop by Eli Creek and Eurong on the way to the 'Jewel of Fraser Island', Lake McKenzie. Located 100 meters above sea level, this lake is comprised of pure rainwater only, and if you haven't seen it before, the beauty and colour sure does take one's breath away. There is also a rainforest walk on the way back to Cathedrals for anyone wanting to stretch their legs after a day in the water!|
|Sandy Cape||Difficult||Relax in the salty bubbles of Champagne Pools (45 mins from Cathedrals) before continuing north to the tip of the Island. An experienced MPAQ insider mentioned that he has never seen someone NOT get bogged around Ngkala Rocks, but that's all part of the fun! This will take drivers to the beautiful heritage-listed Sandy Cape light house so it is well worth the drive. Fun fact: It's also the tallest lighthouse in Queensland and was built in 1870.|
