Games Infrastructure Delivery Gathers Momentum – Industry Opportunities Now Open

Legislation

The Queensland Government has launched a major procurement process to deliver infrastructure for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, signalling significant opportunities for the construction and design sector across the state.

The Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) has now commenced the search for a Delivery Partner to support the delivery of 17 new and upgraded Games venues. This includes a broad scope of program management services that will be critical to the successful implementation of the 2032 Games infrastructure program.

In addition, Registrations of Interest (ROI) have opened for organisations in the design and construction sector wishing to be considered for involvement in the delivery of these venues. This forms a key part of the Queensland Government’s 2032 Delivery Plan, which aims to leave a lasting legacy of high-quality infrastructure across the state.

With the infrastructure pipeline now moving forward, these procurement stages mark the beginning of a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Queensland’s construction, design, and project management professionals. GIICA Chairman Stephen Conry emphasised the scale and importance of this undertaking, citing long-term economic uplift, social benefit, and enduring infrastructure that will serve Queensland communities for decades to come. “More than 50 new courts, fields, and pools will be delivered for both community and elite sport use,” Mr Conry said.

Games procurement will be focused on delivering value for Queensland, creating local opportunities, encouraging innovation and market-driven approaches and driving economic and social benefits. This means that to supply to the Games, suppliers will have to participate in procurement processes and demonstrate that they are best placed to deliver on Queensland Government requirements.
