Maintenance Tradesperson

Maintenance reports to the Facilities Manager and is responsible and accountable for providing maintenance duties to ensure a comfortable and orderly environment for house guests, volunteers and staff. This role provides invaluable support to the charities mission of “keeping families close” by ensuring a welcoming environment.

This is a hands-on role with specific responsibilities include but not restricted to the tasks listed below and in the daily task lists:

Operational

• Perform general maintenance tasks and more complex tasks specific to the qualification/trade.
• Undertake maintenance and repair using appropriate tools of trade.
• Install appliances, furniture and equipment.
• Assisting Facilities Support with up keep of Gardens and carpark, watering, trimming, weed control, collecting rubbish & cleaning etc. Including footbaths and driveways
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. gas).
• Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm).
• Collaborate with workers, contractors and other professionals during renovations.
• Report to Facilities Manager issues of concern related to general Facilities.
• Under guidance of Facilities Manager assist in maintaining inventory and create orders for needed items. Track stock related to Facilities services.
• Assist external contractors while on site.
• Escalate matters/issues to Facilities Manager for resolution.

Additional Requirements for this position:

• Ability to obtain working with children Blue Card
• Current Driver’s Licence
• Provide own tools relevant to trade qualification, tool allowance is provided.
• The ability and flexibility to work in a 24 hour, 7 day working environment

Qualifications & Training

Essential:

• Must hold an open driver’s license
• Must hold or willing to obtain a working with Children blue card
• Demonstrated knowledge of systems and processes.
• Demonstrate a high level of safety focus
• Computer literacy, basic to intermediate Microsoft programs knowledge.
