Course Details

Fire Safety 

Fire safety helps to protect your business. It ensures that everyone knows how to act safely, reducing the risk of injury. Basic fire safety techniques can also prevent a small fire from becoming a big emergency.

Overview of what is covered:

  • Identify and prevent common fire hazards in the workplace
  • Identify the different types of fire extinguishers and their purpose

Manual Handling 

Lifting, lowering, pulling, pushing, holding, carrying and restraining are common causes of lower back injuries that are often preventable. This course is designed to provide participants with a basic understanding of manual handling.

Office Ergonomics 

This course will provide you with the knowledge, skills and tools you need to identify risk factors within your work area and to complete a self-assessment and properly set up your workstation.

Overview of what is covered:

  • How to identify ergonomic injuries that can be caused by poor posture
  • Ergonomic hazards that exist in the workplace
  • How repetition and contact stress can be avoided
  • How to combat visual fatigue
  • How to conduct a self assessment and make the necessary ergo-adjustments to your workspace

Risk Management

In this course you will learn that Risk Management is the process of minimizing or mitigating a risk. Its starts with the identification, evaluation of the risk and then the controlling of the risk.

Silica Dust Awareness

This is an introductory course that is designed to provide an awareness of silica dust and the hazards and risks associated with it and how control measures can be applied.

Overview of what is covered:

  • What silica is and where you will find it
  • How silica dust is produced
  • Health risks associated with silica dust
  • The silica dust exposure standards to abide by so that you can operate within a safe zone
  • How to manage hazards associated with silica dust

Working in hot and cold environments 

Work that involves hot or cold temperatures can lead to a range of symptoms from physical discomfort through to life threratening conditions. In this course you will learn about the health risks that may arise when working in hot and cold conditions.

Overview of what is covered:

  • The health impacts of working in hot and cold environments
  • How to identify the hazards and assess the risk of both types of environments
  • Control measures used to mitigate risk to ALARP for hot and cold environments
  • How to respond to heat related illness and hypothermia
  • When to seek medical attention

Asbestos Awareness

Identify and control asbestos in the workplace.

Asbestos may be found in common materials such as floor tiles, roof shingles, and plasters. But, if asbestos fibres are released into the air and inhaled, the health impacts can be detrimental.  In this course, you will learn how to recognise the different types of asbestos and how to respond if you encounter Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) at work.

On successful completion of these courses, learners will be issued with a Certificate of Attendance.
